Colors

Designing with colors is always a challenge in the digital environment.  A well designed site will have a balance of colors but not be difficult to read.  A poorly designed site may have colors that don’t complement each other and end up being a distraction to the user.  Most larger sites tend to be afraid of colors,  just look at Amazon, Dell and Ebay. They have all opted for some of the most dull sites on Internet, valuing function or aesthetics.   That tends to be the case when revenue becomes the primary purchase of a site.   The site starts to look more like an office catalog than something that can be filled with color. But not all large companies are color adverse. Just take a look at Adobe.com. They, understandably, get the point of creating a colorful, intriguing web site with gorgeous graphics and color choices.  It clearly hasn’t hurt their marketing prowess or sales.

Design is one of the most important aspects of any product. Without it we would have a world of monotony consisting of bland boxes and uninspiring spaces.  Design can create a space that invites or provokes thought. From a  clean, stark space to a detailed, ornate small watch, design is key to that products appeal.  Something as simple as Stonehenge or as complex as the Eiffel tower can illicit feelings of wonderment and awe.  Design comes in many shapes and forms and all must be created by someone. From a simple brochure or cardboard box to the rockets we launch into space, all of these were envisioned by someone and brought to life.  As technology advances so does design and its digital version.
